British conductor Sir Simon Denis Rattle born on 19th January 1955 in Liverpool England.
Educated at Liverpool College.
His early work began as a percussionist, then studied piano and violin, He entered the Royal Academy of Music in London in 1971.
Was assistant conductor of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.
Sir Simon Denis Rattle became principal conductor and former chief conductor of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra CBSO.

Knighted by the Queen of England in 1994.    

In September 2002 Simon Rattle became Chief Conductor of the Berliner Philharmoniker and Artistic Director of Philharmonie Berlin.
